چکیده

This study presents the analysis of a constellation partition (CP) algorithm for multiple-input multiple-output– maximum-likelihood detection (MIMO–MLD) systems. The authors consider an Nt by Nr MIMO system, where MLD algorithm is employed at the receiver side for MIMO signal detection. The authors show that for the case of orthogonal space-time block codes and MIMO beamforming (MIMO-BF) systems, the proposed CP algorithm achieves the same errorrate performance as the optimum MLD algorithm while cutting back significantly on the complexity of MIMO–MLD scheme. Thus complexity reduction is not achieved at the expense of the optimum MLD performance in these cases, unlike the existing simplified MLD schemes in the literature. For the case of MIMO-multiplexing system, however, it is observed that the complexity reduction is achieved at the expense of the optimum MLD performance, similar to the existing simplified MLD schemes. Thus the proposed algorithm is especially attractive in real-time implementation of space-time block code and MIMO-BF systems.

An Improved Layered MIMO Detection Algorithm With Near-Optimal Performance

This letter presents a new layered symbol detection algorithm for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. In this scheme, the layers are divided into two groups and detected differently. For the layer with the smallest post-detection signal-tonoise ratio, an exhaustive search is performed over the signal constellation; for the remaining layers the conventional iterative vertical Bell lab...

A Modified Differential Evolution for Symbol Detection in MIMO-OFDM System

It is essential to estimate the Channel and detect symbol in multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO)-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. Symbol detection by applying the maximum likelihood (ML) detector gives excellent performance but in systems with higher number of antennas and greater constellation size, the computational complexity of this algorithm becomes quite hi...

Partition-Based Hybrid Decoding (PHD): A Class of ML Decoding Schemes for MIMO Signals Based on Tree Partitioning and Combined Depth- and Breadth-First Search

In this paper, we propose a hybrid maximum likelihood (ML) decoding scheme for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. After partitioning the searching tree into several stages, the proposed scheme adopts the combination of depthand breadth-first search methods in an organized way. Taking the number of stages, the size of signal constellation, and the number of antennas as the parameter ...

Low-complexity Decoding is Asymptotically Optimal in the SIMO MAC

A single input multiple output (SIMO) multiple access channel, with a large number of transmitters sending symbols from a constellation to the receiver of a multi-antenna base station, is considered. The fundamental limits of joint decoding of the signals from all the users using a low complexity convex relaxation of the maximum likelihood decoder (ML, constellation search) is investigated. It ...

Symbol detection using the differential evolution algorithm in MIMO-OFDM systems

Channel estimation and symbol detection in multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO)-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems are essential tasks. Although the maximum likelihood (ML) detector reveals excellent performance for symbol detection, the computational complexity of this algorithm is extremely high in systems with more transmitter antennas and high-order constellation...
